Animal Farm: Piggy Bank

Inspired by Hiromasa Yonebayashi’s’s film Arrietty. Theconcept revolves around people living beneath the floor in an old manor. I crafted a piggy bank, integral to the storyline, serving as a structure for characters to climb, knock over, hide in, or even break. The ideation process commences with a sketch painting featuring the protagonist evading
the owner’s cat using the piggy bank, followed by
the design of two surface painting sections that characters can potentially walks on. An English-styled table and bathtub serve as two pivotal locations where our protagonist attempts to escape and scavenge within the mansion. The table becomes a focal point for the main storyline,
as the owner’s cats discover the existence of the small people and attempt to catch them. Simultaneously, the small characters unveil a piggy bank, using it as a means to evade the owner’s cat. The bathtub is strategically positioned, becoming a platform for the protagonist to swim, boat with various objects, or even trick the owner’s cat into a clever trap.In the initial stage, I commence by sketching out intriguing shapes for my props, keeping in mind keywords such as cute, shiny, and goofy. To enhance their significance, I opt for spotlights that project the props in a heroic and attention-grabbing manner. The color palette choices revolve around atmospheric variations, ranging from cold and quiet (4) to serious and dangerous (5), and warm and magical (6)
